A Short Blog About Fred

During my round of goodbye's a friend, Tim, told me he had an uncle who lived near Strasbourg who he thought might be willing to put us up if we passed that way. Tim was kind enough to ask and do the introductions via email, and so it was that we found ourselves staying with Fred in his early 19th century ancestral home in the small french village of Melsheim.

The house and barn are great places that Fred's father and now Fred are restoring. Fred himself is a lovely man and fantastic host. He went out of his way to make us feel at home, drove us around and showed us the local sights and even bought us lunch. His hospitality and generosity towards us went way beyond the call of duty. As a result we had five lovely days and left feeing rested, re-organised and ready to face the road again in high spirits. We were genuinely sad to leave Fred whose company we had enjoyed. So a big thanks to Fred and also Tim for putting us in touch.
